There is something momentous about picking up the brush and paints again after many years of abandoning them. The first things one does are an exploration - sometimes the skills have GROWN in the interim, sometimes they have just CHANGED. And sometimes the MATERIALS have changed. For Laura, it had ALL changed. Her skills, the paints, the canvas, the brushes... all different. And this was the first acrylic painting she had done in decades. When it began to come together it shocked her. The apples. The colors. The smoothness and the glowing highlights. All achieved differently than she remembered painting 25 years earlier.
